Horse Riding has become a popular pastime for travelers who wish to explore Cambodia in a little more detail and get off the beaten track and see some of the lesser known Siem Reap attractions. There are not many more pleasurable ways than sitting on horseback to see a nation whose countryside offer some of the most rich and spectacular scenery in the whole of Southeast Asia and indeed the world. There are paths which will take you to all areas of Siem Reap province and beyond should you so wish and locals will undoubtedly welcome unexpected visitors with a warm smile and friendly shouts of 'hello!'
We recommend this as a great adventure and an unusual way to see unseen Cambodia. Training courses are available to get up to speed on mastering these intelligent creatures, and there are horses available for all levels of experience. Even first time riders can roam villages and rice fields taking in rural Cambodian life with an experienced trail guide to lead the way.
Horse riding for one person for an hour costs US 19 or US 36 for two hours. Long term arrangements for lessons can also be made.
Anytime of the day is good for horseriding, we simply advise that one is aware Cambodia is a very hot country so take this in to account if you plan to ride during the hottest part of the day (12-3pm). As for time it depends how much you wish to see.
