Haven Training Restaurant (Siem Reap)

HAVEN opened its bamboo gate in December 2011 and is a training restaurant for young adult orphans (orphans, half orphans and abandoned children), who have to leave the orphanage when they come of age and have nowhere to go.

HAVEN takes these young people in, gives them a vocational training in hospitality or as a cook, teaches them life skills and supports them in their transition from institution to real world.

In addition to the work training and the life skills workshops we also take financial responsibility of all our trainees and provide them with protected and guided shared housing, meals, medical care and a monthly training allowance. Furthermore we offer them English and computer lessons.

The training runs for one year and when it is finished, we help our students to find permanent positions. By doing this we empower them to create a future for themselves, away from poverty, prostitution, human-trafficking and delinquency.

If a training year is not fully booked, we also train other young adults coming from community work programmes and orphanage outreach programmes in rural and poor areas, giving these kids a chance to step out of the vicious circle of poverty.
